Sarah Garcia is an interdisciplinary visual artist working with various craft materials and processes, with a current focus in clay, fiber, printmaking, sculpture and installation. Her work with clay draws from histories of human relationships with ceramic vessels, and the spaces they occupy and contain in our lives. Her current work explores reliance on vessels through collaborations with clay and transitional and interstitial spaces. Conversations with her daughter are central to her making work. Together in their dialogues, they address notions of care, labor, love, family patterns, cultural histories, agency and memory. She received her MFA in ceramics at the School of Art and Design at San Diego State University. She lives and works in San Diego, California.
